What It Is

Gear is how you turn a fragile early Gyldhunter into a raid-ending threat. Equipment in Mistfall Hunter comes in rarity tiers, and each piece carries affixes — passive enhancements that buff your character. The higher the rarity, the more affix slots a piece has and the stronger its bonuses, which makes chasing top-tier gear the core of end-game optimization.

Layered on top is the Equipment Voucher system — a free, progression-based way to claim gear without grinding every drop yourself.

How It Works

Rarity and affix slots. Gear quality is read off its rarity color, and rarity directly controls how many affixes a piece can roll:

  • Uncommon (Green) — entry-level gear with 1–2 affix slots.
  • Legendary (Orange) — the top of the ladder, with 4–5 affix slots and the strongest bonuses. This is the gear you build around for end-game optimization.

More slots means more passive stats stacked on one item, so a Legendary piece isn’t just “a bigger number” — it’s several bonuses in one. Legendary-quality gear is available for all classes, so every archetype has a top-end goal to chase.

Affixes. Every piece can come with affixes that grant passive enhancements. Because higher-rarity gear carries more affix slots, gearing up is really about hunting pieces that roll the right combination of affixes for your build — not just the highest rarity for its own sake.

Equipment Vouchers. Vouchers are a free way to get gear, tiered to mirror the rarity ladder:

  • Vouchers are divided into multiple tiers, each corresponding to a different equipment rarity.
  • You gradually acquire higher-tier vouchers as you progress through the game.
  • Per the developers’ Equipment System FAQ, the free vouchers are usable across difficulties — they’re a steady, baseline source of gear as you advance.

Tips / Optimization

  • Read the color, then read the affixes. Rarity tells you how many slots a piece can have; the affixes tell you whether it actually fits your build.
  • Chase Legendary for end-game, not for early raids. With 4–5 affix slots, Orange gear is your optimization ceiling — but Uncommon gear with the right affixes can carry you through early progression fine.
  • Bank your vouchers with progression in mind. Higher-tier vouchers arrive as you advance, so they’re a reliable backstop against bad drop luck.
  • Tie gear to your talents. Gear is one leg of your power; pair it with Builds & Talents and the right weapons so the affixes reinforce your playstyle.

Common Mistakes

  • Equipping high rarity blindly. A Legendary with the wrong affixes can lose to a well-rolled lower-rarity piece for your build.
  • Sleeping on vouchers. They’re free gear tied to progression — ignoring them means gearing slower than you have to.
  • Forgetting the full-loot stakes. Everything you carry is at risk every raid. Don’t run your best Orange gear into a fight you don’t need to take. (See Extraction Loop.)

FAQ

What’s the best gear rarity in Mistfall Hunter? Legendary (Orange) sits at the top with 4–5 affix slots and the strongest bonuses, and it’s available for every class.

What do affixes do? They’re passive enhancements. Higher-rarity gear has more affix slots, so it stacks more (and stronger) passives on a single item.

Are Equipment Vouchers free, and can I use them on any difficulty? Yes — they’re free, tiered to match gear rarities, and per the developers’ FAQ are usable across difficulties. You earn higher-tier vouchers as you progress.
