⚠️ Heads up. Mistfall Hunter is pre-launch (full release July 29, 2026). Boss details below come from betas and previews — solid info, but the lineup and numbers can change at launch.

The best loot in Mistfall Hunter is locked behind the worst fights. Those fights are the Mist Lords — boss-tier guardians sitting on treasure most players will never reach. Beating one is the high-risk, high-reward path of the whole game.

This page covers how the boss-challenge system works. For the only fully revealed boss, jump to General Harald.

Mist Lord boss encounter in the ruins

The Mist Lord / Boss-Challenge System

Mist Lords aren’t random spawns you trip over. They’re deliberate challenges you choose to take on.

Here’s how it works. Rich treasures lie in the ruins, guarded by the Corroded “or even terrifying Mist Lords.” A Mist Lord is a step above normal enemies — only the most fearless Gyldhunters survive one, and survivors claim the treasures it protects. So the loop is simple: want the best loot, beat the guardian.

The system comes with two difficulty levels, added in Beta 3:

  • Normal — the standard version of the fight.
  • Chaos — the harder, higher-stakes version, for better rewards and a real test.

Both run in Solo or Trio, so you can take a Mist Lord alone or bring two friends. Previews also reference a Mist Lord’s seal being lifted as part of unlocking these encounters — the gate you break to start the challenge.

Beat the Mist Lord, claim the treasure. Pick Normal to learn it, Chaos when you want the real reward.

Remember this is still an extraction game. You don’t keep the loot just by winning the fight — you still have to extract with it. See the Extraction Loop for getting out alive.

Bosses

General Harald is the confirmed Mist Lord right now.

He’s a former commander of Brandrgarde, corrupted after a failed experiment to stop the Gyldenmist, now guarding the ruins as a relentless executioner. He fights with a spear and can freeze his targets. Full breakdown on the General Harald page.

More Mist Lords are expected at launch — previews have teased additional boss reveals — but Harald is the one with a full fight to plan around today.

Tips

  • Pick your difficulty honestly. Run Normal first to learn the moveset. Save Chaos for when you actually want the upgraded reward.
  • Bring a Trio for your first kill. A Mist Lord punishes solo mistakes hard. Three players spread the pressure.
  • Plan your exit before you engage. Winning the boss means nothing if you die on extraction. Know where your Soul of Return path is.
  • Farm bosses for Gyldenblod. Boss runs are a strong income source. See Gyldenblod & Farming.

FAQ

What is a Mist Lord? A Mist Lord is a boss-tier guardian in Mistfall Hunter that protects the most valuable loot in the ruins. Beating one is the high-risk, high-reward path.

How many bosses are in Mistfall Hunter? General Harald is the only fully confirmed Mist Lord right now. More are expected at the July 29, 2026 launch.

What’s the difference between Normal and Chaos difficulty? Normal is the standard boss fight; Chaos is the harder version for better rewards. Both run in Solo or Trio.

Can I fight bosses solo? Yes. Mist Lord challenges support Solo or Trio. Solo is much harder, so a Trio is recommended for your first kill.
